6 Easy Weight-loss Tips for Men

In the television program, The Biggest Loser, you will find that men lose more weight faster than women do. It seems that even after 30, men's metabolism is more active than that of the members of the female gender. Despite this, however, you will see that there are quite a number of men, both young and old, who are overweight and have big potbellies

One of the reasons why there are many fat and big-bellied men is that majority of them are unaware of their problem. A lot are clueless that they are already suffering from fat problems. Most men only realize that they indeed are fat and need to reduce their waistlines when their weight reaches 300 and when their partners complain of suffocation while making love.

Before you get big as a whale, you better start losing weight now. Here's how:

Accept You Have A Problem

If you do not acknowledge that you have a weight problem, then losing weight will just be a temporary past time for you. If you really want to get rid of your love handles and you want to boost your libido, then you need to be committed to becoming fit.

Be Prepared

Much like other things in life, being committed to trim down fat needs a lot of preparation and planning. First, you need to prepare yourself mentally for the challenge of evading your favorite unhealthy food and starting to eat vegetables. Second, you also need to be prepared on what you are going to do when faced with temptations in parties and poker matches. Lastly, you need to plan your weight-loss routine so that it would be easier for you to make dieting and exercising regular parts of your everyday activities.

Keep A Food Journal

Several studies have shown that a food journal is a crucial part of losing weight, whether you are a man or woman. Writing down all the food that you eat and even beverages that you drink and the emotions that you feel will help determine your cravings and triggers for binging. Furthermore, keeping a food journal will make you realize the direct relationship between your food choices and the size of your gut.

Don't Forget To Exercise

Tipping the scale to the left should not be your only goal in losing weight. Being fit and active should also be included in your list of reasons to start shedding pounds. Although exercising may not dramatically affect the weight, it would definitely have a big impact on your cardiovascular health and it helps lower risk of certain illnesses.

Instead of just watching sports on television, why don't you try them yourself? A few laps in the swimming pool, a friendly game of basketball, and some Frisbee tossing with your dog or kids are all fun ways to exercise and keep your body fit.

Chug Down Some Water

Instead guzzling down sodas and beer, why don't you drink water instead? Water is essential in getting rid of toxins and wastes inside the body. Furthermore, it also helps moisturize your skin from the inside. Sodas, beer and other sugar-filled beverages should be taken in moderately because these are just adding to your daily caloric intake. It is important to note that these drinks are loaded with calories. In fact a can of soda has about 139 calories, while a bottle of beer has about 100 calories.

Be Reasonable

Your expectations should be achievable and reasonable. Do not aspire for a 20-pound weight loss in a week. Aim for long-term results. A two-pound per week weight loss is actually ideal.

If you are struggling to start a diet or you have reached a plateau in your weight-loss regimen, you can always use supplements and products that can jumpstart your plan of shedding pounds. One system for busting fat and cutting down pounds that is specifically designed for men is Dermacut. Learn more about this system by visiting

Money Can Not Buy Happiness

A lot of people think that being rich will make them happy. The most obvious and biggest advantage of being rich is not needing a job. Yet, the few rich people that I know, that are jobless, are still not happy… at least not openly happy. Even if they are happy, it is not because their money made them happy.
Sure, there are a lot of people who enjoy earning money, yet they might not have much money or not be happy with their money that they already earned. I have a particular greedy friend who fits this description perfectly. I noticed that these types of people have much more satisfaction talking about how much money they earned, overtime hours collected, or money saved; rather than just being happy with their money. As a result, I think that the happiness from greed of wealth is very temporary, because greedy people can never have enough money.
There are other types of people who are very materialistic. I have several friends that continuously buy new toys (such as a new car, computer, camera, electronics, etc.) and lavish entertainment expenses (such as vacations, dinner at expensive restaurants, etc.) way more often than their actual needs or long term affordability. These people always appear to thoroughly enjoy their new toys yet continuously have little or no savings. Unfortunately, their new toys quickly become not so new any more, and a new toy is needed to feel temporarily happy again. In actuality, this is more of a distraction from the really important things in life, and not true happiness or contentment.
Therefore, money can not buy happiness. True happiness is what people do with their life, their family, their friends, and everyone’s health. Money is a means to do more and live longer, yet quantity is seldom better than quality.
Money can buy many things. It can buy toys, entertainment, security, peace of mind, status, pride, and medicine. However, none of these things will give happiness. Money can not buy happiness.

Health is More Important than Wealth

Have you noticed that people without health or wealth only wish for better health, however people with health only wish for wealth?

I believe this is because health is often taken for granted. Only when someone has become serious ill do people realize the true importance of their health and the health of their friends and family. This is why my new motto for the year is:

Health > Wealth

To better illustrate my point, think about this. People who are ill are also unhappy. However, people who are not wealthy are not necessarily unhappy. Even extremely poor people can be happy, yet extremely unhealthy are seldom happy. Thus, it stands to reason that health leads to happiness much more than wealth. Therefore, health is more important than wealth.

Acne Skin Care Treatments

For a person suffering from acne, acne skin care is unavoidable. Today there is a wide choice available to acne sufferers in acne skin-care products. Some of them will be highly effective while some of these products can be effective to a specific skin type.
Whatever may be the case, number of people these days are opting for acne treatments without consulting any dermatologist. They do not feel any need to ask about the treatment for their acne problem.
One may ask why so much emphasis is given on taking advice from a dermatologist before spending your hard-earned money and precious time in trying out various available acne skin care products in the market. It is due to the fact that on visiting dermatologist, you will know about your skin type, it may not be that, what you were thinking. He/she will also advice you which products you should use or avoid.
It is really very important to consult dermatologist, otherwise, acne condition may got worse instead of getting better.
However, you may be thinking what a dermatologist looks for while deciding upon the best acne products for you. Certain things that are required to be taken into consideration before having acne skin care treatment are to know the cause of acne, age and the current stage of acne. One must also be aware about probable allergic chemicals that can occur due to any of the used chemicals in these products.
After acquiring answer to these questions, you can begin your search for acne skin care products. The very first thing that you require is cleanser, but a good one. Salicylic acid, lactic acid and glycolic acid in the cleanser exfoliate the skin to some extent and also remove any dead skin cells and oil from the skin.
Acne skin care products with benzoyl peroxide and salicylic will prove beneficial and will also soothe your skin and acne is reduced over a period of time. There are certain stronger acne products that are of high concentration, but you will get these products only from your dermatologist.
In the last, you must give a thought over the importance of a dermatologist's advice before opting for any kind of acne skin care treatment or product especially if you have a severe acne problem. Your dermatologist will provide you with stronger products but will also have a constant watch over the consequences. That is why, visiting a dermatologist is strongly advised and also it is the most reliable way to get rid of acne problem.

Headache Problem

Oh my aching head! Nearly everyone has had a headache. The most common type of headache is a tension headache. Tension headaches are due to tight muscles in your shoulders, neck, scalp and jaw. They are often related to stress, depression or anxiety. You are more likely to get tension headaches if you work too much, don't get enough sleep, miss meals or use alcohol.
Other common types of headaches include migraines, cluster headaches and sinus headaches. Most people can feel much better by making lifestyle changes, learning ways to relax and taking pain relievers.
Headaches can have many causes, but serious causes of headaches are rare. Sometimes headaches warn of a more serious disorder. Let your health care provider know if you have sudden, severe headaches. Get medical help right away if you have a headache after a blow to your head, or if you have a headache along with a stiff neck, fever, confusion, loss of consciousness or pain in the eye or ear.
  • Migraine
A migraine is a very painful type of headache. People who get migraines often describe the pain as pulsing or throbbing in one area of the head. During migraines, people are very sensitive to light and sound. They may also become nauseated and vomit.
Migraine is three times more common in women than in men. Some people can tell when they are about to have a migraine because they see flashing lights or zigzag lines or they temporarily lose their vision.
Many things can trigger a migraine. These include
    Anxiety
    Stress
    Lack of food or sleep
    Exposure to light
    Hormonal changes (in women)
Doctors used to believe migraines were linked to the opening and narrowing of blood vessels in the head. Now they believe the cause is related to genes that control the activity of some brain cells. Medicines can help prevent migraine attacks or help relieve symptoms of attacks when they happen. For many people, treatments to relieve stress can also help.

  • Pain Relievers
    Also called: Analgesics, Pain medicines
Pain relievers are medicines that reduce or relieve headaches, sore muscles, arthritis or any number of other aches and pains.. There are many different pain medicines, and each one has advantages and risks. Some types of pain respond better to certain medicines than others. Each person may also have a slightly different response to a pain reliever.
over-the-counter (OTC) medicines are good for many types of pain. There are two main types of OTC pain medications: acetaminophen (Tylenol) and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Aspirin, naproxen (Aleve) and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) are examples of OTC NSAIDs. If OTC medicines don't relieve your pain, your doctor may prescribe something stronger. Many NSAIDs are available at prescription doses. The most powerful pain relievers are narcotics. These drugs can have serious side effects. You must use them only under a doctor's supervision.

  • Over-the-Counter Medicines
    Also called: OTC medicines
Over-the-counter (OTC) medicines are drugs you can buy without a prescription. Some OTC medicines relieve aches, pains and itches. Some prevent or cure diseases, like tooth decay and athlete's foot. Others help manage recurring problems, like migraines.
In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration decides whether a medicine is safe enough to sell over-the-counter. Taking OTC medicines still has risks. Some interact with other medicines, supplements, foods or drinks. Others cause problems for people with certain medical conditions. If you're pregnant, talk to your health care provider before taking any medicines.
When it comes to medicines, more does not necessarily mean better. You should never take OTC medicines longer or in higher doses than the label recommends. If your symptoms don't go away, it’s a clear signal that it's time to see your healthcare provider.

Motion Sickness

Also called: Airsickness, Carsickness, Seasickness
Motion sickness is a common problem in people traveling by car, train, airplanes and especially boats. Motion sickness can start suddenly, with a queasy feeling and cold sweats. It can then lead to nausea, dizziness and vomiting.
Your brain senses movement by getting signals from your inner ears, eyes, muscles and joints. When it gets signals that do not match, you can get motion sickness. For example, down below on a boat, your inner ear senses motion, but your eyes cannot tell you are moving.
Where you sit can make a difference. The front seat of a car, forward cars of a train, upper deck on a boat or wing seats in a plane may give you a smoother ride. Looking out into the distance - instead of trying to read or look at something in the vehicle - can also help.

Animal Diseases and Your Health

Also called: Zoonoses
Animal diseases that people can catch are called zoonoses. About 75 percent of the new diseases affecting humans in the past decade can be traced to animals or animal products. You can get a disease directly from an animal, or indirectly, through the environment.
Farm animals can carry diseases. If you touch them or things they have touched, like fencing or buckets, wash your hands thoroughly. Adults should make sure children who visit farms or petting zoos wash up as well.
Pets can also make you sick. Reptiles pose a particular risk. Turtles, snakes and iguanas can transmit bacteria to their owners. You can get rabies from an infected dog or toxoplasmosis from handling kitty litter of an infected cat. The chance that your dog or cat will make you sick is small. You can reduce the risk by practicing good personal hygiene, keeping pet areas clean and keeping your pets' shots up-to-date.

  • Pet Health
Pets can add fun, companionship and a feeling of safety to your life. Before getting a pet, think carefully about which animal is best for your family. What is each family member looking for in a pet? Who will take care of it? Does anyone have pet allergies? What type of animal suits your lifestyle and budget?
Once you own a pet, keep it healthy. Know the signs of medical problems. Take your pet to the veterinarian if you notice:
    - Loss of appetite
    - Drinking a lot of water
    - Gaining or losing a lot of weight quickly
    - Strange behavior
    - Being sluggish and tired
    - Trouble getting up or down
    - Strange lumps

  • Rabies
    Also called: Hydrophobia
Rabies is a deadly animal disease caused by a virus. It can happen in wild animals, including raccoons, skunks, bats and foxes, or in dogs, cats or farm animals. People get it from the bite of an infected animal.
In people, symptoms of rabies include fever, headache and fatigue, then confusion, hallucinations and paralysis. Once the symptoms begin, the disease is usually fatal. A series of shots can prevent rabies in people exposed to the virus. You need to get them right away. If an animal bites you, wash the wound well; then get medical care.
    To help prevent rabies
    - Vaccinate your pet. Rabies vaccines are available for dogs, cats and farm animals
    - Don't let pets roam
    - Don't approach stray animals. Animals with rabies might be aggressive and vicious, or tired and weak

  • Toxoplasmosis
Toxoplasmosis is a disease caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii. More than 60 million people in the U.S. have the parasite. Most of them don't get sick. But the parasite causes serious problems for some people. These include people with weak immune systems and babies whose mothers become infected for the first time during pregnancy. Problems can include damage to the brain, eyes and other organs.
You can get toxoplasmosis from :
    - Waste from an infected cat
    - Eating contaminated meat that is raw or not well cooked
    - Using utensils or cutting boards after they've had contact with raw meat
    - Drinking infected water
    - Receiving an infected organ transplant or blood transfusion
Most people with toxoplasmosis don't need treatment. There are drugs to treat it for pregnant women and people with weak immune systems.
